Studio providing remote production facilities for broadcaster
dock10 has revealed it is providing its facilities for BBC Sport’s Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup coverage.
The Salford-based facility studio is hosting the broadcaster’s remote production of the event, including a gallery, VT, editing, sub-mixing, production offices, off-tube commentary positions and transmission as well as operational support.
dock10 has played a similar role for the BBC at major tournaments in the past, including Euro 2020, the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022, and the World Athletics Championships.
The BBC’s coverage has already drawn large audiences, with England’s 6-2 victory over Iran attracting a record-breaking eight million streaming views and 9.9 million watched Spain and Germany’s 1-1 draw to make it the most watched game of the tournament without a home nation involved.
In total, the BBC is airing 33 live matches on TV and iPlayer across the 28 days of the tournament, with most of the games are available in UHD and HDR.
dock10 studio manager Adam Broadhurst said: “dock10 is delighted to be supporting BBC Sport’s coverage of the World Cup. Remote production is now a proven and effective way for broadcasters to deliver live events, helping them to reduce their carbon footprint and to create content in a more sustainable, cost-effective, way.”
