Relevent Sports Group picked up the US rights
Team Marketing has held onto the commercial rights for UEFA competitions outside of the US for the 2024/25 - 2026/27 seasons.
This includes competitions such as the men’s and women’s Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League.
However, Relevent Sports Group has picked up the US media rights for the same time, becoming the first agency outside of Team Marketing to handle UEFA rights since the 1992/93 season. Historically the rights were renewed automatically or through private talks, but the Uefa Club Competitions SA (UCCSA) was created in 2017 to offer them to a wider range of agencies.
Relevent paid $250m (£184.36m) for the US rights, which is a $100m (£73.75m) increase on the price of the media rights sold to CBS and Univision in the 2021-24 cycle, according to the New York Times.
Both Team Marketing and Relevant are thought to have beaten the likes of IMG and Infront to the rights, albeit for only three years. Originally, the UCCSA had allowed bids for six-year terms, but it has decided to go with the three-year deals.
Bids were originally invited in November, with presentations taking place on 22 and 23 November. Additional information was requested for 6 December, but the lack of a satisfactory result led to an invitation for new proposals by 20 December. A final deadline of 20 January was then decided, with a change allowing bidders to make offers for individual regions or territories - permitting Relevent’s move.
