The Birth of the Collins Cup PTO

The Professional Triathletes Organisation has released a long-form documentary following the action at the inaugural Collins Cup.

Team Europe won the inaugural event, which was held in Slovakia on 28 August. It secured the contest with 42.5 points, while Team USA scored 31.5 points for second and Team Internationals picked up 25.5 points in third.

Featuring the athletes themselves reflecting on the thrills and spills of the competition, The Birth Of The Collins Cup has been released onYouTube and can be watched below.

In addition, the PTO has appointed Meta (formerly Facebook) director of sport partnerships Peter Hutton to its board of directors.

Hutton brings experience working for broadcasters, rights owners and major sports rights agencies to the PTO, which launched the inaugural Collins Cup last summer.

Hutton’s experience may be particularly relevant to this, having worked on launching and running sports channels across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North Africa and the Indian sub-continent in the past.

Peter Hutton Meta and PTO

At Meta, he is in charge of the company’s sports strategy and partnerships worldwide, linking rights holders, broadcasters, agencies, athletes and producers with Meta’s suite of technologies; Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, Meta Quest and Portal.

Before moving to the social media giant, Hutton was CEO of Eurosport for four years, and oversaw the expansion of the Eurosport Player service to 52 territories and 20 languages.

He has also been an executive at Fox International Channels, where he helped acquire Africa’s Setanta Sports and ESPN/Star Sports in Asia. He eventually became CEO of ESPN/Star Sports, Asia’s largest broadcaster, and led its rebranding into Fox Sports in Asia and India’s Star Sports.

In addition, Hutton has worked in leading roles at agencies MP and Silva, where he was co-chief executive, and at IMG, where he launched its Indian office and developed its media business across Asia. He also spent 8 years in Dubai, as one of the founders of the ‘Ten Sports’ business and was CEO when the company was sold to India’s Zee TV.
