The inaugural event takes place in Singapore this December
IMG has partnered with the upcoming Global Esports Games as a consultant to produce live content, handle media distribution, and more.
The event, organised by the Global Esports Federation (GEF), takes place for the first time 17-19 December in Singapore, and will feature multi-title esports competitions with athletes from member federations competing for each crown.
GEFcon – a global convention of esports thought leaders, and GEFestival – a celebration of esports, youth culture and more will take place at the same time.
IMG has agreed to produce 30 hours of live content on the Games, as well as handle event management, marketing, media distribution and sponsorship rights.
GEF CEO, Paul J. Foster, said: “The Global Esports Games is our annual flagship event property and showcase for esports athletes and our dynamic community to shine. Our entire #worldconnected community is looking forward to standing together at the first GEG in Singapore – making new friends, cheering new heroes, and Global Esports Games Champions from around the world.”
The Global Esports Games will be held in a different nation each year, with Istanbul, Turkey to host in 2022 and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2023.
