Production company has worked on high profile athletes’ awards for 20 years

Laureus Awards 2025

Done+Dusted produced the 2025 Laureua World Sport Awards last month.

Taking place on 21 April in Madrid, the event honours the top athletes around the globe and celebrated its 25th year this time round. Premier Sports broadcast it live in the UK, with viewers seeing gymnast Simone Biles and pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis taking home the prestigious Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year prizes.

Done+Dusted was also celebrating an anniversary this year, having now produced the awards for the past 20 years. 300 crew members, 14 cameras, 350 lighting fixtures and 40km of cable were onsite to bring the event to sport fans around the world.

Ian Stewart Done+Dusted

Ian Stewart, president and founding partner of Done+Dusted, told Broadcast Sport: “For 20 years, we’ve been proud to produce the Laureus Awards, making this our longest-running partnership. This year, we made a return to the captivating city of Madrid, having traveled to incredible destinations like Rio, Kuala Lumpur, St. Petersburg and the UAE over the past two decades.”

Stewart added on what was brought in to celebrate the 25th anniversary this year: “In honor of the 25th anniversary, we did a retrospective, looking back at all the great names who have won the awards. What was interesting is that of the 25 winners for World Sportsman of the Year, there are only 10 men who have won the actual award. It’s a true testament to their elite athleticism that they continue winning multiple times.

“For each award, we also displayed all previous winners on a screen onstage. Having sporting ‘greats’ on stage talking to the previous winners and well as the newly crowned winners was very special.

“Finally, we brought back the dynamic Lindsey Vonn to host. She had hosted once during Covid and we always knew she deserved to repeat that in front of an appreciative live audience. Lindsey is everything you want in a host – she’s a storied athlete that also happens to be glamorous, charismatic, engaging and fun. She also has a strong connection to Laureus, having received World Sportswoman of the Year Award in 2011 and the Spirit of Sport Award in 2019. This year, she presented the Sportswoman of the Year award to Simone Biles and both highlighted and praised her impact on women in sport and mental health.”
