BVE 2015: BVE represents an important opportunity to celebrate the UK’s creative industries, says Alison Willis.
As the broadcast landscape continues to evolve to encompass television, film, theatre, live events, social media and other broadcast media, BVE has gathered industry leaders and technology experts to help visitors make sense of the changing face of broadcasting.
We’re pleased to have the support and endorsement of many organisations and associations across the content creation and delivery sectors; we’re working extensively with long-standing partners including Bectu, Raindance, GBCT (The Guild of British Camera Technicians), GTC (Guild of Television Cameramen) and SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers).
And we are pleased to welcome new partners including EVCOM (Event & Visual Communication Association), the ABTT (Association of British Theatre Technicians) and the BCMA (Branded Content Marketing Association) to reflect the evolution of the industry.
These industry experts will be appearing across the seminar programme and in the Skills & Networking Zone to offer invaluable advice to visitors.
The ever-expanding exhibition features over 260 exhibitors – including 70 that are new to the show – offering the latest products, services and technologies to enhance productions and workflows.
And our unrivalled free seminar programme, totalling over 120 hours of presentations, covers the latest production issues and technological trends as well as exploring the connected world and multi-platform content.
Richard Ayoade, the comedian, actor, director, writer and presenter, will be in conversation with writer, actor and performer Adam Buxton on Wednesday at 5pm in the 4K Theatre discussing Ayoade’s career and the challenges he has faced in the industry.
This promises to be an enlightening and entertaining session, so get there early!
With 4K and Ultra HD remaining hot topics across the industry, on Tuesday at 12.30 in the Broadcast Tech & Workflow Theatre the BBC will present a keynote on its implementation of Ultra HD over IP at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
And on Wednesday at 2.05pm in the 4K Theatre Minoru Yonezawa, chief executive of Sky PerfecTV! presents ‘Building UHD for the broadcasters’.
American director Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Thirteen and Red Riding Hood) will deliver a keynote session about her positive experiences of shooting her latest feature, Miss You Already, in the UK on Tues 24 February, 17.00, 4K Theatre).
BVE is also an ideal opportunity for networking. In the Skills & Networking Zone visitors will be able to talk to experts about career issues, business concerns and how to progress in the industry, while the bars and cafes are always popular places for more informal catch-ups with colleagues.
