The Competition Commission has formally cleared Ericsson’s takeover of Red Bee Media.

Today’s announcement confirms the provisional findings which were published last month.

The majority decision clears the way for Ericsson to complete its takeover of the media services company, which provides playout, subtitling, channel branding and promos for the likes of the BBC, Channel 4 and UKTV.

Ericsson, which acquired Technicolor’s playout business in July 2012, already counts ITV and NBC Universal among its clients.
