Tim Cocker of EggChasers Rugby has officially gained the UK and Ireland rights to second tier of French rugby
Tim Cocker, of YouTube channel EggChasers Rugby, has acquired the UK and Ireland rights to the second tier of French rugby, the pro D2.
The competition, beginning with the ongoing play-offs, is now showing on the FR-UK Rugby channel on YouTube. Cocker commentates, with former England international Joe Worsley joining as co-commentator. Cocker has previously worked as a reporter on BT Sport’s rugby coverage.
Worsley, who currently coaches at D2 side Brive, assisted with acquiring the rights - which include 35 fixtures next season in addition to this season’s play-offs - and Cocker is working with a team of three others to produce the content.
The channel currently boasts almost 12,000 subscribers, and includes club profiles, interviews with players and coaches, analysis videos, and more alongside the live action. Cocker’s Eggchasers channel has 139,000 subscribers, but is treated as a separate channel.
A number of British players, including Courtney Lawes, George North, and Jonny May, have recently joined clubs in the D2.
Speaking in a video explaining his decision, Cocker said: “Courtney Lawes, absolute legend, one of my all time favourite players, George North, Welsh legend, Jonny May played in World Cup finals, what a player. And they’re all going to the French second division to play, and that felt massive.
“So suddenly there’s an increase in interest and I looked around and went well ‘hold on a minute there’s nowhere to watch it’.”
