FIFA World Cup, Rugby World Cup, and men’s T20 World Cup all to be shown by channel on airlines and cruises

Sport 24 has acquired the airline and cruise rights to the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, 2021 Rugby World Cup, and the Men’s T20 World Cup over the next two months. 

In addition, the IMG-owned and operated channel has picked up the Rugby World Cup 2023 and Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

First, Sport 24 will broadcast 38 hours of live coverage from Rugby World Cup 2021, followed by 112 live hours across 56 games at the men’s competition in 2023. The women’s tournament is hosted by defending champions New Zealand from 8 October to 12 November 2022, while the men’s takes place in France from 8 September to 28 October 2023.

World Rugby chief executive Alan Gilpin said: “We are delighted to have Sport 24 join the family of broadcasters for our men’s and women’s Rugby World Cups. Rugby World Cup 2021 will be a record-breaking celebration of the best of women’s rugby, starting with a 40,000 world record attendance for a women’s rugby match at Eden Park this Saturday. The excitement will continue to grow and partnering with Sport 24 means that fans won’t miss a minute no matter where they are.”

Starting next will be the Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia from 16 October to 13 November 2022, and Sport 24 will show 150 hours of live coverage. Next year it will broadcast more than 350 hours of the 50-over format Men’s Cricket World Cup taking place in India during October and November 2023.

Finally, Sport 24 and its secondary channel Sport 24 Extra will show more than 125 hours of live coverage from this year’s FIFA World Cup. In addition to the live broadcast of all 64 matches of the tournament, these channels will also air multiple repeat matches and highlight shows during the tournament, which runs 20 November - 18 December.
