Three documentaries will air this November as the tournament gets underway
Sky Documentaries and Now will air a trio of World Cup related documentaries as the tournament gets underway in November.
It will broadcast Brazil 2002: The Real Story, which it acquired in February of this year, on 13 November at 10pm. Brazil 2002: The Real Story tells the behind-the-scenes tale of Brazil’s 2002 World Cup win, with unseen archive footage from player Juliano Belletti forming the backbone of the story. It was produced by Collective Media Group with Entourage Sports & Entertainment and Trailer Films.
Meanwhile, earlier on 13 November, at 7pm, Hurst: The First And Only will be shown. Produced Ron Scalpello, Matthew Lorenzo and Daniel Sharp via his Dash Pictures label, and commissioned for Sky by Jack Oliver, Hurst: The First And Only charts the highs and lows of England legend Geoff Hurst, scorer of a hat trick in the final of England’s 1966 World Cup win.
Finally, Italia 90: Four Weeks That Changed The World will be shown in three parts on 13, 20, and 27 November at 9pm and available as a box set. Commissioned for Sky by Tom Barry & Janine Thomas and produced by Blast! Films, it speaks to the likes of Paul Gascoigne, John Barnes, Terry Butcher, Jürgen Klinsmann, Lothar Matthäus, Salvatore ‘Toto’ Schillaci, Roger Milla and Dragan Stojković about the 1990 World Cup both on and off field through the tales of five major teams: England, Italy, Cameroon, Yugoslavia, and eventual winner West Germany.
The three documentaries are airing just before and after the beginning of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, which gets underway on 20 November and runs until 18 December. It will be broadcast on the BBC and ITV in the UK, with the full TV schedule available here.
