Ronaldo Nazario DAZN documentary

Brazil football legend Ronaldo has revealed the trailer for the upcoming DAZN documentary on his playing career, announcing that it will be released next month.

The Phenomenon will take a look at the former Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, and AC Milan forward’s peak years. This includes his loss with Brazil in the 1998 World Cup final against France, in which Ronaldo started despite suffering a convulsive fit in his hotel room on the same day, and then winning the World Cup in 2002. It will premiere in Madrid on 14 October, with Ronaldo himself attending the event.

The trailer shows that a number of footballing icons have taken part in the documentary, including Christian Vieri, Paolo Maldini, Zinedine Zidane, Diego Simeone and Roberto Carlos, with more likely to be confirmed.

Ronaldo signed an original content deal with DAZN last year, which will see the streaming platform produce three series charting his career. The Phenomenon is set to be the second of these, after the agreement began with El Presidente, which covers his current position as president of La Liga club Real Vallodolid and came out last year. All three series are set to be released before the end of 2023.

In addition, The Phenomenon is the first of DAZN Studios’ three World Cup commissions, to be followed by the release of Green Lions, the inspiring untold story of Cameroon’s 1990 FIFA World Cup heroes; and Maradona 94: The Fall, an explosive look behind the scenes of one of the biggest controversies in World Cup history.
