NFL celebrates female impact with UK-based show

The NFL has launched Her Huddle, an Instagram Live and YouTube Show celebrating the competition’s female fans and inspirational women involved in the sport.

The pilot episode kicked off at 8.10pm on Instagram Live on 7 September, with Sky Sports presenter Hannah Wilkes speaking to Good Morning Football’s Kay Adams about her love for the sport, her rise through the NFL ranks and her Fantasy Football expertise.

In addition to weekly guests, rotating co-hosts will join Wilkes. These include the likes of NFL fan influencers Liz Bhandari (aka NFLGirlUK) and Ash Hansen from Ash and the NFL.

The programme aims to take advantage of the fact that 38% of the NFL’s UK fanbase is female, and will feature live interactive Q&As to engage followers. It joins other initiatives such as a partnership with Missguided to release a new female-only fashion range.

The 2021 NFL season will see a record 12 women in coaching positions within teams. Also, a record 38.2% of league office roles in 2020 being held by women, after work from NFL senior director of diversity, equity and inclusion Sam Rapoport with the NFL’s Women’s Careers in Football Forum.
