Behind-the-scenes documentary from Drive To Survive creators follows professional tennis players around the globe
Netflix has launched behind-the-scenes tennis docuseries Break Point at a special preview screening in Melbourne, Australia, ahead of the Australian Open.
Produced by Drive To Survive creator Box To Box, the ten-part series begins with five episodes on the streaming platform from 13 January. These will be followed by another five landing in June.
Nick Kyrgios and girlfriend Costeen Hatzi, Matteo Berrettini, Ajla Tomljanović, Taylor Fritz and girlfriend Morgan Riddle, and Frances Tiafoe are among those featured in the series. It will follow these players and partners at a number of ATP and WTA tournaments, as well as Grand Slams, including the Australian Open, the US Open, the Indian Wells Masters, the Madrid Open, the Roland-Garros French Open and more. The trailer was released last week, and can be seen at the bottom of this article.
Paul Martin and James Gay-Rees from Box To Box were executive producers, with Kari Lia showrunner.
Speaking at the special preview screening, Martin said: “We have wanted to show the world a side to tennis at the elite level that they didn’t know existed, so to have achieved that and to premiere the series at the Australian Open with many of the players it is centred around is deeply gratifying.”
