BT Sport will continue to air matches
The National League has revealed it will soft launch its streaming platform on 10 December.
This will be followed by a full launch two weeks later for the Christmas fixtures. These dates were decided at a board meeting on 30 November.
At first, only National Division fixtures will be shown through the platform, with North and South clubs running pilot events in the second half of the season to ensure logistically it can be delivered for North and South Divisions for the 2023/24 season.
Further updates on pricing and how to sign up will be announced “shortly”. The National League first announced plans for a streaming platform in the second half of the season in September, with BT Sport to continue broadcasting matches at least until its rights deal ends in 2024.
The governing body has moved to create a streaming platform after criticism from Wrexham co-owner and Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds, who complained that matches not shown by broadcaster BT Sport weren’t available for clubs to stream themselves.
Wrexham, which was taken over by Hollywood actors Reynolds and Rob McElhenney last year, recently launched a documentary on the pair’s experiences at the Welsh club - which is available on Disney+ in the UK. S4C has also created a documentary series about the club since its takeover.
