Sports live streaming service Joymo has agreed a partnership with Northumberland Football Leagues ahead of the return of grassroots football.

With grassroots football again allowed from Monday following Covid restrictions, the collaboration will see Joymo stream exclusive coverage of Northumberland’s Senior Women’s League, Under 19 Boys League and the association’s annual youth tournament.

Fans will be able to watch games both live and on demand on Joymo’s OTT platform. The Northumberland Football League and its affiliated teams will be able to sell pay-per-view, pay-per-tournament and pay-per-season tickets to view games.

Ian Coates, general manager of Northumberland Football Leagues, said: “The Northumberland Football Leagues takes pride in being seen as a proactive and progressive football organisation in the UK, and this is the type of partnership that underpins this reputation. In a post-Covid world, we can see huge benefits in being able to stream matches and give supporters the opportunity to watch their team’s live, even if they are unable to attend in person.

“Longer-term, Joymo will provide huge value to players, coaches and supporters and give clubs and teams the opportunity to generate additional revenues that can be crucial in covering the operational costs that exist at grassroots level. This can only be a good thing for the future of grassroots football, which remains the lifeblood of the sport.”

Joymo CEO, Mike Emery, added: “This is a really exciting partnership for Joymo. Northumberland Football Leagues is one of the most highly regarded associations in the UK, with thousands of passionate players, coaches and supporters representing clubs in the region. We can’t wait for the season to resume and to start working with the league to share their valuable content via our platform.

“Our aim is to empower sports organisers and participants,at all levels, by providing them with the tools and technology to broadcast directly to their fans. Joymo not only helps content creators generate additional funds, but provides them with ownership of all advertising, sponsorship and user data.”

Norwegian-based Joymo launched into the UK and Ireland last year following a deal with Basketball Ireland, and aims to allow grassroots sports teams to broadcast their games to supporters. Content creators can film through their phone with the Joymo Share app, or buy Joymo’s 4K HD camera that includes automatic action-tracking and no need for a camera operator.
