Broadcaster will air monthly match alongside Premier Sports and LaLigaTV
ITV has agreed a deal to broadcast a monthly LaLiga match free-to-air.
This will begin with Real Sociedad vs. FC Barcelona on 21 August, and will continue for the next three seasons as a sublicensing agreement with Premier Sports. Further details of the coverage are to be released soon.
Meanwhile, Premier Sports will have over 300 live LaLiga Santander matches per season on its Premier Sports 1 and 2 channels, after it announced a three year renewal with LaLiga earlier this summer. LaLigaTV talent will feature on the broadcasts, which includes Albert Ferrer, Guillem Balagué, Semra Hunter, Andrea Orlandi, Gary Lineker, Simon Hanley, Terry Gibson, Phil Kitromilides, Graham Hunter, Sid Lowe, Pete Jenson, and many more.
Meanwhile, every game is available via LaLigaTV, which is available via streaming for all Premier Sports paid subscribers in the UK, and can also be accessed in standalone format via Premier Player and Amazon Prime Video Channels.
In addition, all 11 LaLiga SmartBank matches per round will be available free-to-air via LaLigaSportsTV, which is available on Android and iOS devices, as well as Samsung, LG and Android Smart TVs.
Richard Sweeney, CEO of Premier Sports, said: “In June we proudly announced the renewal of our LaLiga rights until 2025. After months of consultation, we’re proud to reveal that football fans in the UK will have more access to LaLiga this season, thanks to Premier Sports’ distribution agreements with an unparalleled number of platforms. We look forward to the exciting Spanish football season ahead.”
Melcior Soler, audiovisual director at LaLiga, added: “Fans in the UK have a strong emotional connection to Spain and Spanish football in particular. This season, through our relationship with Premier Sports, we’re happy to offer more of LaLiga than ever before, including consistent free-to-air coverage, access to world-class LaLigaTV content and full coverage of both divisions, LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank.”
