Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich’s clash will be aired in 9:16 format for free in the UK and Ireland.
Sky Sports is to broadcast the German Super Cup in 9:16 format this evening (17 August).
Billed as mobile-friendly by flipping the normal 16:9 ratio, the clash between Borussia Dortmund can be watched in the vertical format through the Sky Sports app, and will be free in the UK and Ireland.
The broadcaster calls the broadcast the first of its kind, claiming that this, combined with mobile optimisation, has not been done before for an elite football match.
The Klassiker takes place at the Westfalenstadion at 7.30pm on 17 August, with new Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann looking for his first trophy in the role. The 34-year-old is under scrutiny after failing to win any pre-season games and drawing 1-1 in the opening match of the season against Red Bull Leipzig.
Meanwhile, Dortmund began the league campaign in excellent form, with a 5-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
