The electric racing series will get underway in March

Extreme E has confirmed that its races will be broadcast on Sky Sports in the UK.

The partnership with the subscription service joins the deal that the organisation has with BBC Sport - which will show races on its digital channels.

Extreme E’s focus on the environment with its race locations, zero carbon efforts, and all-electric racing is in part mirrored by Sky’s recent launch of Sky Zero - which states the company’s aim to be net-carbon zero by 2030.

It will join the Formula One World Championship in the broadcaster’s motorsport slate.

Chief marketing officer at Extreme E, Ali Russell, said: “Sky Sports is one of the leading sports broadcasters in the world and I’m delighted it will show Extreme E. The UK and Ireland has a huge appetite for motorsport and with the help of Sky Sports, we will reach a massive audience through this partnership.

“But our collaboration is about a lot more than airing exciting racing, as we share a common mission around the environment, it is fantastic to see the great work Sky is doing around its business practices and investments to protect our planet. Through our shows we will highlight the climate crisis and what we as a championship is doing to help, and how everyone can make a difference.”

Extreme E gets underway in Saudi Arabia from 20-21 March. It recently completed its first group test, where the drivers got to experience the electric SUV-Odyssey 21’s they will be driving in the five race series.
