3.19m tuned in on Channel 4 and Sky to see England lift the trophy for the second time
3.19 million viewers tuned into England’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final win over Pakistan on 13 November.
The game was shown on Channel 4 as well as Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Cricket, and Sky Showcase, after a decision from Sky to allow the free-to-air broadcaster to show the game once England made it to the final - with the aim of giving access to the whole nation. Channel 4 has made a habit of giving free-to-air windows to major sporting finals, including the 2019 Cricket World Cup final and Emma Raducanu’s US Open final victory.
An average audience of 2.27 million were watching as England won the men’s T20 trophy for the second time, with the 3.19 million peak lasting for five minutes. Sky’s channels averaged a total of 1.19 million viewers, while Channel 4 drew 1.09 million.
This made it the most viewed T20 match since comparable records began in 2015 - beating England vs Pakistan (2.01m average and 2.87m peak. On BBC1) in 2020 as well as the most watched domestic cricket on record, The Hundred Men’s Final in 2021 (average of 2m on Sky and the BBC).
