Broadcaster recently missed out on a deal to buy BT Sport
DAZN is reportedly in talks to acquire Eleven Sports.
According to the Financial Times, the talks are advanced, but it is yet to be guaranteed. Were it to be successful it would add a mix of rights to DAZN’s offering across Europe and Asia, with Eleven Sports showing the Champions League, F1, and more in various territories.
DAZN missed out on a deal to acquire BT Sport earlier this year, with Warner Bros. Discovery agreeing to form a joint venture with the UK broadcaster. DAZN explained that it had found a potential deal to expensive.
Eleven Sports itself has acquired streaming technology provider MyCujoo and digital content producer Team Whistle in recent years. It also recently announced that it is providing the technology for FIFA+’s streaming of live football matches. Its offering also includes production company NEO Studios.
DAZN announced a change in strategy earlier this year, with the aim to move into betting, gaming, e-commerce, NFTs, and advances in viewing experience technology.
