UFC documentary will tell the story of Molly McCann, the first English female fighter to win in the competition
BT Sport has announced that UFC documentary Meatball Molly will premiere at 10.30pm, 15 March, on BT Sport 2.
Produced by BT Sport Films, Meatball Molly tells the story of Molly McCann, charting her life from its beginnings on Merseyside to becoming the first English female fighter to win in the UFC. It covers both the highs and lows, including how she overcame battles with mental health and long periods of self-doubt to rise to the top.
Exclusive behind-the-scenes footage McCann’s fights will feature, such as from her debut loss at UFC Liverpool at the Echo Arena in May 2018.
Airing ahead of McCann’s return to the octagon at UFC Fight Night: Volkov v Aspinall on 19 March, the documentary will also cover her life away from the sport through interviews with family and friends.
Meatball Molly is produced and directed by Gary Donald, with Sally Brown as executive director for BT Sport.
Brown said: “Meatball Molly takes the viewer on an evocative journey of an incredibly strong and inspirational sportswoman, highlighting the passion, dedication and commitment it requires to make it in professional sport. We are proud to be able share Molly’s story and we hope it will serve as inspiration for the next generation of female athletes.”
