A new ‘Sports Commentator of the Year’ category has been added to the Awards following repeated requests from broadcasters
Broadcast Sport has added a ‘Sports Commentator of the Year’ category to the Broadcast Sport Awards 2022.
The category has been created after we received multiple requests to specifically honour the unique skills of the sports commentator.
The new category recognises the sports commentator who has provided consistently engaging and insightful coverage of sporting events during the last 12-months.
The sports commentator can be working in radio or TV, or across both, and be providing commentary on any sport.
The entry will be judged on the commentator’s ability to demonstrate real in-depth knowledge of the action as it unfolds, putting it in context, keeping both ardent fans of the sport and newcomers informed, entertained, and glued to what’s going on.
The category covers commentary for a sports events between 11 September 2021 and 11 September 2022. The Sports Commentator of the Year category is open for entries now.
