Four-part documentary series will be available on streaming platform from 13 January
Apple TV+ has revealed documentary series Super League: The War For Football.
The four-part series will be available on the streaming platform from 13 January. It features access to league presidents, club owners and the architects behind the European Super League, covering the untold story of how and why this idea was hatched and the battle plans that were formed to fight it.
The series is directed and executive produced by All Rise Films’ Jeff Zimbalist (The Two Escobars, The Line, Momentum Generation), and executive produced by Words + Pictures’ Connor Schell (The Last Dance, 30 for 30, and O.J. Made in America).
Apple TV+ has largely focused on US sports to date, acquiring the global rights to MLS and documentaries such as Underrated, featuring NBA legend Stephen Curry, and four-part series They Call Me Magic, chronicling the life and career of two-time NBA Hall of Famer and cultural icon Earvin “Magic” Johnson.
However, Super League: The War For Football does join a feature documentary on the life of F1’s Lewis Hamilton, which was acquired by the streamer earlier this year. You can watch the trailer for Super League: The War For Football below.
