BriteSpark behind two-parter Finding the Titanic: Secrets from the Depths

Channel 4 and Australian PSB SBS will air BriteSpark Films’ two-part documentary about the discovery of the Titanic.

Finding the Titanic: Secrets from the Depths is a 2 x 60-minute series marking the 40th anniversary of the doomed ocean liner’s discovery on the seabed. It will recount the expedition from US and French oceanographers to find the wreck of the famous ship two and a half miles below the surface of the Atlantic.

The doc will also examine how the Titanic came to rest on the ocean floor, as well as global reaction to the ship’s discovery 72 years after it sank. Testimony from those involved in the discovery and those who had worked on finding it in the years after it sank, as well as historians, will also feature in the series.

Argonon label BriteSpark is behind the film, with Tom Porter exec producing it and Dimitri Collingridge directing. Assistant producer Geeta Wedderburn researched and developed the story. Sphere Abacus is looking after distribution.

Porter said: “The sinking of the Titanic is one of the best-known stories of the 20th Century.  However, how its wreck was discovered and the incredible efforts and endeavour that went into locating it is less well known.  This series will put that story front and centre.”
