Who really holds the power in Britain today - and how did they get there? Channel 4 is kick-starting a debate with this interactive site that shows the connections between politicians, celebrities and business leaders.

Who Knows Who

A map, produced in Flash, shows the links between famous figures and users can click on any name to follow a string of connections.

At launch, the site focuses on David Cameron and Boris Johnson, building on recent More 4 drama-doc When Boris Met Dave. Click on Cameron, for example, and you can explore how he is connected to figures ranging from Barack Obama to Jade Jagger. Accompanying articles look at the Bullingdon Club where Cameron and Johnson met, and the Tory leader’s views on drugs.

The site is created by TUI Interactive Media and draws on information from sites such as mysociety.co.uk, while any user can update information. It initially has 6,000 connections.

C4 will add Russian oligarchs to the site in the coming week to tie in with an edition of Dispatches. Next month, it will look at prominent green figures to mark the Copenhagen Summit.
