The art and craft of visual effects for TV will be a key focus at this year’s Media Production Show (MPS) with a number of masterclass sessions being held.
Among them, Oscar winner Rob Harvey will discuss VFX for Children’s TV on Day 1 (13 June). The owner and creative director of Lola Post Production won an Academy Award for his work on the movie Gladiator. He has also worked on The Bible and Clash of the Titans. Lola’s TV credits include Ripper Street, Mars, Fortitude and Teletubbies.
Also on Day 1 of MPS, One of Us VFX supervisor Ben Turner will join Milk chief executive Will Cohen to showcase the best in VFX for TV. Turner worked on Netflix’s The Crown while Milk is responsible for VFX on Doctor Who (pictured) and Sherlock.
One of Us won the BAFTA Craft award for VFX this year for The Crown while Milk won it in 2016 for Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell episode 5.
The route into the VFX industry will also be discussed at MPS during a special session on Day 2 called ‘So you want to work in VFX?’ That seminar will feature Clare Norman, head of production at Milk, and Danny Duke, the managing director of Outpost.
The Media Production Show takes place 13-14 June at Olympia, London
