The Farm Group managing director Nicky Sargent and Framestore-CFC managing director William Sargent have stepped down from the board of UK Post ahead of its elections.

The decision was announced at a UK Post meeting last week (31 June). The evening convinced some companies, such as Smoke & Mirrors, to join the trade body, while others, such as Pogo Films, remained sceptical.

Even if the eight remaining board members are voted back to serve another year that would still leave a couple of spaces for new nominees, which could see BBC Post Production head of operations Clive Hodge claim a seat at the trade body that recently fired a warning shot at his division.

Other nominees include Manchester-based Sumners managing director Andy Sumner, Pinewood head of post production Robin O'Donoghue, VTR plc's new managing director Paul Tracey, Ascent Media managing directors Joce Capper (Rushes) and Keith Williams (Saint Anne's) and Paul Collard (vice-president of film and digital services). The board retain the right to co-opt additional board members if an area of the industry is felt to be under-represented.

Voting opened this week and will close on 20 June. The new board will meet for the first time on 7 July. Chairman Mike Luckwell has offered his continuing services, which the newly elected board will discuss in July.
