Brief Complete the grade on the second series of the historical drama in which the warrior Uhtred fights for his native land of Northumbria.

How it was done Colourist Vince Narduzzo was asked to create and apply a vibrant, gritty look with a real but ‘otherworldly’ feel that included clashingcolour temperatures.

In a deliberate effort to move away from the ‘pretty’ look of other period dramas, Narduzzo, using Digital Vision Nucoda, opted for a cool colour palette that was full of blues and blacks with full saturation.

As many of the external scenes were shot in bright summer sunshine, he also needed to add a moody, overcast feel.

This meant losing any bright blue skies and toning down lush greens and yellows, but without giving it a desaturated feel.
