How it was done VFX supervisor Matt Wood led a small team providing visual adjustments for mainly story-driven purposes. The VFX artists increased the visual tension at the story’s contentious location, Sweetlove House, by adding a gaudy mural wherever the building was seen. As well as moving the village church and replacing signage, the team created a disturbing moment when the deceased character played by Rory Kinnear appears with CGI worms slithering out his face. Space artists created flesh decay, skin discolouration and ‘dead eyes’ using a mix of 2D and 3D. Maya was used for 3D animation, Mudbox for sculpting and textures, VRay for rendering and Nuke for compositing.
