Animation studio Th1ng has created a new department to work on television idents.

It will be headed by three experienced directors and designers, Russell Appleford, Richard Morrison and Alon Ziv.

Appleford recently completed the E4 idents for Channel 4 creative, Morrison has a 20-year background in TV and film design and Ziv recently worked on a Universal ident for the new Picture Box channel commissioned by design-company Escape and Partners.

The team has established an alliance with Escape, where Escape will create a brand strategy and Th1ng will complete the design work.

The company has also invested approximately£70,000 on an 80-processor render farm, six eight-core Apple Macs and 10 desktop PCs.

The company moved to Wardour Street in February. It employs 20 staff.
