The Technicolor Creative Service's 52,000sq ft head office in Perivale will house all 160 staff from its Denham site by the end of the year and staffing levels are expected to rise by 10% next year, according to Technicolor sources.
The new HQ will offer duplication, DVD compression and authoring, sound post-production, online editing, subtitling and 3D graphics. Sound specialist Anvil Post Production, which is part of Technicolor Creative Services, will have 12 cutting rooms, three mixing studios and room for one Foley artist. Anvil is also due to receive Dolby Premier accreditation.
'The move will put a lot of our creative services under one roof, closer to London and with superior facilities,' said creative services manager Simon Wilkinson.
The relocation is just part of what Wilkinson has dubbed a 'big spend period' for the Thomson-owned company. Technicolor has also taken delivery of a 4K Spirit. 'We're going to use the 4K Spirit on broadcast projects, which is good for everyone but ultimately we've brought it in for digital intermediate work next year,' explained chief executive Roger Beck, Technicolor Creative Services Group.
It is also expected that Discreet systems will be brought in over the following months for visual effects and conforming.
Around £1m has been spent on building a HD Spirit telecine suite, the rest of the money has gone on infrastructure.
Technicolor has worked on projects such as Martin Clunes comedy Doc Martin for Buffalo Pictures and Amnesia for Ecosse Films - both for ITV1.
