Shoreditch post-production house Splice Post has started a collaboration with production equipment rental and crewing company, Procam, to enhance the smooth running of productions, from shoot to post.
The companies are offering clients a joined-up approach where together they advise and construct tailored workflows to suit the needs of the production. The first production they’ve provided this approach for is director Mark Gill’s feature film England Is Mine, which dramatises the early life of The Smith’s singer Morrissey.
“We were involved from the beginning, helping design, test and establish the workflow from set to post including data wrangling to ensure everything proceeded smoothly to the edit,” said Duncan Western, Splice MD.
“Our collaborated with Procam has meant we have been able to create the ultimate workflow from camera to post and make the whole process more efficient. We are excited to see this new partnership flourish,” adds Western.
Splice transcoded the rushes on set to proxy resolution using Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve, and picture conform linked back to the original Arri UHD 4444 camera files. Splice worked on the online in Avid Symphony 8.5.4, with Boris, Saphire, Mocha and After Effects. It also provided audio post-production, which included Foley, ADR and the final mix. The grade was done in Baselight and Splice also created deliverables in 4K UHD, 2K and HD and created the DCDM from Baselight for the DCP creation.
