Win a day’s VR shoot with the Nokia Ozo
Broadcast rental company Shooting Partners has launched a VR competition where the winner gets to make a professional VR production using the top-end (and now discontinued) Nokia Ozo camera.
The competition, badged #MakeItVR, is now open for entries and Shooting Partners says it for “anyone who might be interested in using virtual reality video in a professional capacity to gain skills and experience in VR production.”
The initial stage of the competition is simple enough – to explain, via an online form, why a VR shoot experience would be valuable to your team.
”The #MakeItVR competition gives production teams a chance to play and learn without having to pay for the privilege.”
The closing date for this stage is 5 March 2018.
Shooting Partners team will then go through all the entries and shortlist five of them for the next stage. Those shortlisted will be informed by 15 March 2018.
The five shortlisted entrants will then be invited to a VR shoot workshop, where they will be introduced to the principles of VR shooting and get a demo of the Nokia Ozo.
Following this, those shortlisted have until 31 May 2018 to create and submit their VR shoot plans, which will be used to select the grand prize winner.
The criteria for selecting the grand prize winner isn’t currently available, but will be provided to the five shortlisted entrants nearer the time.
The winner of the competition will finally be announced by 30 June 2018. The winner gets a one-day VR shoot with the Nokia Ozo kit and operator, project management support from Shooting Partners and a pre-production briefing and advisory session.
Shaun Wilton, Shooting Partners director, said: “VR, AR and 360-degree video has had a huge impact on how video is used to communicate with audiences, but producing this content requires a very different approach to a traditional video shoot. The #MakeItVR competition gives production teams a chance to play and learn without having to pay for the privilege.”
