Filmlight’s Flux Store installed for post-production house
Electric Theatre Collective has installed Filmlight’s Flux Store storage at its Whitechapel studio.
The visual effects and post-production house moved to its current base in 2022, adding a third suite plus a purpose-built projection room and a standalone screening room. This became necessary after the company developed organically into longform and episodic.
Flux Store uses the high-bandwidth internal disk system and cloud network infrastructure developed for Baselight - which was already in place at ETC. It also supports Filmlight’s API, which allows third-party software to interact with it and automate tasks such as VFX transcoding and retrieving/setting metadata, and maintains a metadata index to allow for access as local Baselight storage.
ETC head of colour Luke Morrison said: “We saw demand becoming an issue as managing space and bookings was already a challenge. If we wanted to continue our progression we needed to be more adaptable and efficient.
“We also needed to be able to store and manage more data and hold onto it for longer periods of time compared to commercial work. Flux Store plays a major part in our growth as it enables higher quantity and larger projects to be in play at the same time. And it streamlines the management of and creative process across all our Baselight systems.”
