Post-production company offers to create free bespoke LUTs on a first come, first served basis

Colour grading house Cheat has unveiled a free look up table (LUT) creation/grading service called Cheat Looks that’s designed for directors and DoPs to use on-set or during the offline edit.

It is offering one free Cheat Looks session every week on a first come, first served basis.

Cheat says its “just like a normal grade session.”

You’re able to work with the Cheat colourist of your choice – https://www.cheatit.co/colourists – to create a look that’s then saved as a LUT.

As well as the free LUT service, Cheat is offering a paid-for ‘look profiling’ service by which a look is created based on a still image or film stock.

Cheat managing director Toby Tomkins, said: “The benefit of developing a look before shooting means the capture of your material is optimised for the final look. In turn, the consistent look throughout shooting and offline means everyone is on the same page throughout the process, with no big surprises in the grade.”
