The special issue of Broadcast Tech magazine brings you in-depth features on the UK’s flourishing virtual production, post-production and VFX sectors, as well as a guide to the UK’s premier industry event, The Media Production & Technology Show (MPTS).
This year, MPTS makes a welcome return to Olympia London (11-12 May). It’s bigger and better than ever before, with a sold-out exhibition and a packed seminar programme focused on technology, virtual production, sport, audio, post-production, production and lighting.
The event kicks off with a session with Louis Theroux talking through his varied and extensive career in award-winning documentary production. The seminar programme also includes an interview with Matt Smith, director of Amazon Prime Video’s Rooney documentary. There is an ‘In conversation With’ session with actor, writer and director Adam Deacon; a discussion with TikTok head of media partnerships Normanno Pisani about creating sports content that resonates with the TikTok audience; and a panel discussion on future tech trends.
For more on MPTS 2022, including the floorplan and exhibitor plan, see pages 6-16.
Elsewhere in this issue, we have an extensive feature on virtual production (p32-44), in which we talk to the UK’s leading companies in the space to provide a full understanding of what virtual production is and what the benefits are for different types of production.
We have a gallery of some of the best recent UK post-production projects on p21-26, and a roundtable debate about how to encourage more diversity within the sector on p48-52. There are also a series of fascinating viewpoint pieces throughout the issue.
