It’s opened a sound dubbing suite and hired highly-experienced dubbing mixer
Glasgow post-production house Blazing Griffin has expanded into audio post after opening a 5.1 dubbing theatre.
It has hired sound designer and dubbing mixer John Cobban (pictured) to run it. He joins from Arteus, and has 25 years’ experience across drama, fact went, docs and feature films.
Since joining Blazing Griffin, Cobban has been working in isolation on The Narcissistic Fish, a short film by Scottish Opera, which premiers on 18th June, as well as a music feature doc.
The facility’s dubbing theatre has sound editorial rooms and a recording booth and runs Avid Pro Tools HDX. Blazing Griffin promises “further phases of the new audio department” once Covid-19 restrictions are eased.
The company previously offered audio post work through a working partnership with Scotland’s largest audio post-production facility, Savalas Sound.
Ross MacRae, acting head of post production, said: “John’s high standards, wealth of experience, and collaborative approach will help us in our goal to provide our clients with first rate sound services, complementing our picture post offering to form a one-stop shop for the best talent and technology in Scotland.”
Cobban adds: “I am very excited to head up the new audio department at Blazing Griffin Post. I’ve followed their work over the years and I’m impressed with the quality of their output and the whole teams passion and dedication. The facility’s relaxed, creative and friendly atmosphere is a big draw. I’m enjoying working with the team at this exciting time and offering a new range of audio services to our clients.”
