No additional hardware or hard drives needed for cloud system
Adobe and Red have partnered to integrate camera-to-cloud directly into cameras.
Previously, the Red V-Raptor and V-Raptor XL needed a Teradek Cube 655 to use camera-to-cloud, which allows productions to send content off site as it is created. For example, so a post house can begin work on original camera files as they’re being shot, or virtual productions or complex visual effects can send them directly to a VFX house.
In addition, ProRes files can be automatically delivered to production offices and cutting rooms for immediate editing, and for productions that want the highest quality dailies, RAW video and audio files can be synced, color corrected, and transcoded in the cloud through an integration with Colorfront.
From late 2022, the Teradek tech won’t be necessary, with the cameras able to upload 8K Redcode RAW files directly to the cloud from the camera. However, it will require access to high-bandwidth networking (wireless or ethernet).
This will also enable a native ProRes proxy workflow that contains all asset metadata available in the camera, which means the files are available to view, share, and edit without requiring additional transcoding. It also accurately captures off-speed recordings.
