Brief Colour grade a series of on-air idents and promos for the Universal Channel, giving them the look and feel of a hot, sultry mid-west American road trip.
How it was done With the shoot taking place in rural Essex a complete change of mood and tone was needed for the grade.
Platform colourist Enge Gray, in Baselight, started out using some custom LUTs for the Sony F65 but found these to be a too restrictive.
Instead the grade was created from the ground up using a series of warm, low-contrast base layers and built up with secondary skin and sky keys to bring back the natural nuances of skin tone and big blue skies.
Throughout the process Gray maintained the strong brand colour that sings through during the spots and on the end-boards.
