Ascent Media has appointed Alec Stichbury as its new vice president of business development for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

In his new role Stichbury will work closely with the strategic sales group and be responsible for all business development activities to drive key initiatives planned for 2010.

Stichbury will report to new senior vice president of EMEA Maurizio Cimelli who joined last month.

Stichbury was most recently a director at the consultancy Mediacroft, a firm that he ran with Cimelli.

He also worked with Cimelli at Technicolor where he held several positions including vice president of global commercial services and vice president of technology.

The two also formed a working partnership at the London Playout Centre, which was sold to Ascent Media in 2004.

Cimelli said: “Alec joins us at a crucial time as we develop the next phase of our asset management solutions and he will take responsibility for building strategic partnerships that will raise our profile across Europe. “
