Although The Mill refused to comment on its purchase, it is understood to be arriving this week and will boost the facility's ability to handle high end commercials work. Earlier this month, Broadcastrevealed Glassworks was installing its own 4K machine, which will be taking bookings from November.
Other post-houses with 4K machines, capable of high quality real-time film transfer at up to 4096 pixels, include film specialist Midnight Transfer, Framestore CFC and Technicolor Creative Services.
Grass Valley film imaging account manager Arthur Johnsen, said that while virtual grading suites were slowly taking over, there was still room at high-end facilities for 4K machines.
