Soho Editors is investing £100,000 in its Manchester training centre.
The upgrades include updating the Mac workstations and adding full HD projection and monitors.
Managing director Brian Cantwell said: “We have been operating in the north-west for a few years now, and this was the natural next step to have a wholly owned operation.
“We are modernising the whole infrastructure and taking on new staff, which will enable us to offer a wider range of training courses, particularly in the area of video and effects.”
Soho Editors also plans to open a branch of its freelance recruitment agency in Manchester.
It will recruit editors, graphics artists, compositors, 3D artists, audio engineers and colourists over the next few months with a plan to launch the new service in the summer.
