The visual effects supervisor on Slumdog Millionaire has teamed up with a former head of imaging from Mill Film to start a Soho VFX company.
Union VFX, founded by Adam Gascoyne and Tim Caplan, will offer an effects management and supervisory service from concept design to final delivery.
The proposal is to provide producers with a bespoke and independent offering that utilises hand-picked talent and facilities. Caplan, who worked at Mill Film for 10 years, said: “After working for so long on the inside
of VFX companies, we knew there was a gap to provide a fresh approach to VFX production.
“Our aim is to provide a service for the producer, working with facilities and freelancers so we can project manage unique teams with transparent cost breakdowns to ensure the maximum creativity, budget control and flexibility.”
Caplan’s other credits include Harry Potter films, Gladiator and Mamma Mia!. Gascoyne’s previous work includes the 2008 remake of Brideshead Revisited, Angels & Demons and Red Riding 1974.
