The London TV Screenings kicks off in earnest tomorrow, it’s first in-person affair since 2020, after being forced into the virtual world last year. Amid a wealth of programming being showcased by the leading lights of the UK distributors and some of their international peers, Broadcast International has identified 20 of the biggest, most interesting shows being sold at the market.
Fittingly, our Hot Picks include British dramas from some of the leading British producers and distributors, with HTM Television and Hat Trick International’s DI Ray rubbing shoulders with World Productions’ ITV Studios thriller The Suspect and Dancing Ledge/Fremantle’s Crossfire.
Our international scripted line-up highlights the growing global penchant for legal shows, with the courtroom a popular place for drama to play out. One of these is Rabbit Films’ Mobile 101, which tells the boom-and-bust true story of telco giant Nokia and has its worldwide premiere in London tomorrow (1 March).
In the non-scripted space, we picked out fact-ent shows including Ricochet’s Warner Bros competitive cooking format Top Takeouts and have scoured the spectrum for ob-docs, true-crime, specialist factual, nature programming, history and politics – travelling from Gibraltar to India, the US to the Middle East.
It’s fantastic to welcome so many buyers back to London, to feel the enthusiasm for the return to physical events, and to celebrate so much great content. Here’s to a great market.
