The director responsible for the University of Salford’s activities at MediaCityUK has quit in order to return to London.

John Holland, a former head of interactive at the BBC, was responsible for new courses, enterprise training and placements with the BBC.

He was also heavily involved in the technology decisions being made by the University within its planned facilities at MediaCityUK.

He is understood to be joining a media consultancy.

A statement from the University read: “John played a pivotal role in preparing the university for the opening of its new state-of-the-art building in the heart of the MediaCityUK development at Salford Quays. John also developed a range of opportunities around private and public sector co-operation, establishing significant relationships with key partners including the BBC, BT, Autodesk and Nokia. He has played a valuable role in building a framework for the future of this pioneering venture. We wish him well for the future.”
