A portable unit that controls the motion and triggering of a digital SLR or digital film camera for stereoscopic 3D stop-frame animation production.
What does it do? Unlike live-action 3D, which requires two cameras, stop-frame animators can get away with one that slides from side-to-side to capture the images necessary for each eye. The S3 stepping module accurately controls this movement, triggering both left and right shots before re-setting itself.
What are the advantages? It allows the inter-ocular distance to be as small as required for scale models and also eliminates the differences in images caused by having two separate lenses.
