The west London facility will employ four full-time staff at Galena Road and will be linked to Rainbow's central London HQ with a wide area network which will enables digital files to be transferred internally at 1Gb per second and at 1Mb a second between offices. Projects offlined in Hammersmith can be sent to Ingestre Place for finishing on Quantel eQ.
The FCP machines are being used on a 20-part Naked ScienceNational Geographic series being made by Pioneer Productions in HD and Tornado,a Pioneer doc for C4. Rainbow managing director Nick Rogers told Broadcast: "With such huge storage supplied with each machine we can cope with HD revisions and uncompressed offline edits. The combination of FCP and Quantel is tremendously powerful."
