Prime Focus’ Phitz Hearne has won an Emmy Award for his sound design and mix on Nutopia’s America: The Story of the US.
Hearne was awarded the gong for ‘Outstanding Sound Editing for Nonfiction Programming (Single or Multi-Camera)’ for his work.
He collected the gong at the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday 21 August.
Prime Focus managing director Simon Briggs said: “Last night’s success is a testament to not just Phitz but also to Rada Danilovic and Alex Bingham who make up the rest of the team that did such fantastic work on this landmark series. I’m delighted for them.”
America: The Story of the US, an overview of the history of the United States from the pilgrims to present day, aired on The History Channel in the UK on 30 August.
It was also nominated in three other Emmy categories: ‘Outstanding Picture Editing for Nonfiction Programming’ for Matt Lowe, ‘Outstanding Cinematography for Nonfiction Programming’ for Dirk Nel and ‘Outstanding Writing for Nonfiction Programming’ for Jenny Ash.
