The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has launched its own inhouse TV channel, the Canal 11 network.

The channel is being produced from the FPF’s studios at the Cidade do Futebol in Lisbon.

Canal 11 will feature live matches featuring Portuguese soccer’s national youth, women’s, beach and futsal teams, and also has rights to the Campeonato de Portugal, the third-tier of Portuguese club soccer, as well as highlights from all of its coverage.

The channel does not include rights from Premeira Liga and the Segunda Divisão Portuguesa, the nation’s top two club competitions, or national men’s soccer matches.

The channel is available via pay-television platform Meo, public-service broadcaster NOS and teleco Vodafone. The channel will also be accessible online via channel11.pt.

Canal 11 and the FPF have also established a collaboration agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to enhance the service’s video streaming capabilities.

FPF president Fernando Gomes said: “Channel 11 is not competitive. It wants to be seen but does not have audiences as its main objective. Channel 11 aims, like the national teams, to represent the federation and the country well.”
