A miniature acquisition device mounted on a Polecam jib that is capable of capturing stereoscopic 3D images.

What does it consist of? Two Toshiba IK-HD1 3-CCD cameras mounted side-by-side on a Polecam 3D Head.

How does it work? The camera control units at the back of the Polecam rig feed left and right streams of HD-SDI into a StereoBrain processor, developed by NuMedia Technology and Inition. The StereoBrain then combines the two streams into a single 3D-compatible signal feed, which can be fed out via HDMI. At IBC (pictured), the set-up was demo’d outputting to a 46-inch 3D LCD monitor from JVC.
